Sort helper with elastic search

Has anyone implemented elastic search? There's an awesome sort helper included in JSP (thanks Chris) but im not sure how to set up the query to accept the dynamic sorting. Any clues?

For ES I use https://github.com/ankane/searchkick
Works great and it's in production at Instacart and many other places.
