PayPal without BrainTree account

I would like to ask if it is possible to use PayPal without the BrainTree integration as it is not available to us in central EU.

Or if not, how hard would it be to integrate an another custom payment provider into this setup? Is this somehow planned to allow it?

You don't have to use any of our billing code, so if you want, you can replace it with your own.

If you wanted to, you could add a new payment provider to the Pay gem that is the library we're using to process payments.
