Recommendation for "child" accounts (in an educational context)

For my educational subscription business, there will be an adult who sets up "accounts" for children.  I'm speaking in the generic sense rather than specifically about the Jumpstart models/entities.

Many of the children won't necessarily have email accounts, so I was imagining I could accomplish this with "impersonation" under a single "family" account or I could simply add my own model to represent the state of the currently selected child.

I'm interested in any tips for accomplishing this.

The adult creates an account; /accounts, "Create an Account".

For that account, modify the "invite a user" functionality to just create a limited role, validated user (the child).
